Why fraud and folly defeats rational climate science understanding

While scientists keep refining their understanding and numbers,
and communicators keep tweaking their presentation strategies.
The movers and shapers and citizens continue diligently ignoring our situation.

Thus they can continue inaction as we continue on our banquet of plenty, but never enough,
while Earth continues on our Grand Climate Experiment.

I suggest problem number one is that anyone who takes the implications of climate understanding seriously,
knows that it demands that we learn to do with less.  Less consumption, less wasting, less people.

It demands that we trash the profits obsession and focus on understanding our planet as our parent and provider
then focus on developing sustainable systems all around.

All of it demanding an understanding that the more we consume, the sicker we are going to become.
If we are to choose a future of healthy life and living, it demands radically moderating, nay reducing our expectations.

But, who's interested in that?

  • I think one of the better strategies employed so far is to make climate preservation profitable. Clean energy is a fast-growing sector, and things like car efficiency and such are becoming more and more important with the economic troubles that keep popping up. Not a perfect solution, of course, but making it so people feel less like they need to give everything up makes them more likely to accept the necessary climate strategies. Not as much progress as we need, but small steps are better than nothing.
  • If Americans do not work to get money out of politics, we will have to wait until clean energy and car companies can bribe their own politicians.
